Rob Griffiths

I’m Rob. I design games, I teach people to build them, and I’ve spent enough time in commercial production to know the difference between an idea that sounds good in a meeting and one that ships.

I started in industry at Sony and TT Games, first in QA, then as a designer on the world design team, which is where I learned that environments do more storytelling than dialogue ever will. That’s still the thing that drives the work: building spaces and systems a player moves through and remembers years later.

These days I’m Programme Lead for the Diploma in Creative Media: Games Development at Coleg Llandrillo, the largest education provider in Wales and one of the largest in the UK. I’m an Authorised Unreal Instructor, a non-executive director on the Esports Wales board, and I’m building my own game studio alongside it.

That mix is deliberate. Teaching keeps me answerable to fundamentals. Industry experience keeps the teaching honest. The studio work makes sure I’m still shipping rather than just talking about it.

I’m always happy to talk games and esports , whether you’re a studio with a problem, an institution planning a curriculum, or someone trying to work out how to get into this industry at all. That last one especially. Reach out, I’m always happy to help.
